Are you a Hipster? I am!

I SO relate to this!! Sometimes, it is challenging to know what to call ourselves! Many terms have a lot of “baggage” that does not really reflect what we believe or how we live.

The “whole point of hipsters is that they avoid labels and being labeled. However, they all dress the same and act the same and conform in their non-conformity.”

I found this quote in the New York Times from years ago.  I think it sort of describes how many of us feel today within the religious community.  People shy away from the terms “Christian”, “Messianic”, or other labels because these terms have either lost their meaning somewhere along the way or no longer describe that group.  But on the other hand, by rejecting these labels, and choosing to just follow the Word of G-d, we have sort of found our own conformity within a subgroup.

Today, in our home, Baruch and I had a long discussion with another couple about this subject.  For example, the term “Christian” today…
