Autumn

I love Autumn. It is my favorite time of year. Well, actually, there is something about each season that is special to me, but Autumn…a REAL Autumn…is extra special. About a month ago, this was the view out of our window:

The leaves are a lot fewer now as we prepare to enter the season of Winter.

I think of our nation and what “season” would best represent where our nation is. I believe our nation has been in late Autumn for a long time. I was hoping we could stave off going into Winter, but alas, it seems we have lost that chance.

The hearts of Americans have grown colder and colder as we want what we want and we really don’t care who has to pay for it. We want the government to supply all of our needs without regard for the fact that SOMEONE has to pay for it. Money does not materialize out of nowhere. Either our government prints more, which devalues our dollar causing prices for goods to rise or they have to raise taxes or both.

Raising taxes on the rich really sounds good, except for one thing. It is the rich who invest in companies that create jobs and hire people. Also, who is to define what is meant by “rich”? Someone who makes over $250,000? A million? Small businesses can make that and yet still have to lay off some employees to pay for those higher taxes. Or, they pay the taxes and pass the cost down to us so that goods cost more for us.

The CBO (Congressional Business Office) said time and again, along with Paul Ryan and a few other brave Republicans and Ron Paul that Obamacare aka the Affordable Care Act is NOT really affordable. Money is taken from Medicare to help cover it, yet, they are saying Medicare won’t lose any money. Paul Ryan confronted this Administration about this. You cannot have it both ways. Either Medicare stands intact or you take from Medicare to fund Obamacare. As Paul Ryan said, “You cannot count the same money twice.”

Businesses with 50 employees or more are now going to be FORCED to provide free healthcare to all their employees. Many simply cannot afford this. It is not a matter of being less rich…it is a matter of keeping their doors open! But people don’t get this. So, as a result, many are going to cut their employees down to 29 hours a week. I don’t know about you, but this is one family that will be hard hit by that.

People want something, but they are not willing to pay for it themselves. Do the research. You can actually find lists and articles online of the companies either letting people go or cutting their hours back. You can also find articles that show that the so-called Bush tax cuts are going away…for EVERYONE! That means you and me! Can YOU afford to pay more in taxes? I can’t!

As the saying goes “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” Someone has to pay for it. And when that someone is the government, what it really means is that WE pay for it. The government has no money of its own. It has to collect it from us. There is no such thing as taxing only the rich.

Think about it…especially all of you who voted Obama back into office and especially those of you who used fraud to do so.

Our nation has been experiencing the dropping leaves of Autumn for some time. Long past is the Summertime of being an exceptional country where all can achieve their dreams with hard work and ingenuity. Now, we are heading into the frozen temps of Winter, with part-time jobs, higher taxes and higher cost of goods.

We have forgotten how to pray and how to rely upon our Creator and upon one another. Government has become our G-d. What a pitiful state our nation is in.
