I see a lot of things on Facebook and it makes me wonder what I really have to offer. What is most important in the limited time I have?
Dear friends, time is short. Our nation is in crisis. The world is in crisis. Each nations’ economy is interlinked. When one nation crashes, it starts to affect others. It is past the time for us to look at why these things are happening. We could blame leaders. We could blame political parties. We could blame governments. We could blame policies. Yet, each one of those things (in our country, anyway) have one thing in common…we, the people.
It is we the people who have allowed this situation to develop. It did not happen overnight. It took decades and, dare I say it, over a century. From the founding of this nation there has been a struggle between those who would take away our freedoms and those who would keep them. And in the last century, the effort has been more concerted as we the people have ignored the true beliefs and policies of those we elected.
Our nation was founded as a Republic…not a Democracy. When asked what kind of government we were getting, a Republic or a Monarchy, Ben Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” There is a very significant difference between a Republic and a Democracy. John Adams had this to say about Democracy: “Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either [aristocracy or monarchy]. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” Do your homework and study it. What he said is true. This is critical.
Our Republic was founded upon a document called The Constitution. The Constitution is unique. There is no other document like it. It has been historically recorded that there were times when the men simply could not agree upon what was to be in this document. What did they do? They stopped to pray. Yep…it is recorded in history that they did so…more than once! After praying, they were able to come together and resolve the issues over which they had previously disputed. To say that this document was influenced by our Creator is true!
Let me give you a few more quotes, this time from John Adams.
“The Revolution was effected before the War commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations. This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people, was the real American Revolution.”
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” —-Understand that “religious” in that time meant a people surrendered to God…not necessarily members of a religion. And “moral” meant those who follow the commonly accepted laws of the Creator. Hence, he also said: “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.” It is not about religion…it is about being a God-honoring people.
“The people have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge – I mean of the character and conduct of their rulers”. —-Character counts, folks, especially in our leaders. Right now we have a leader who has flaunted the rule of The Constitution. But he is not the first. We have been electing leaders who have done similar things for far too long. He has simply built upon the foundation of others and taken it to extremes.
Benjamin Franklin pointed to one of the things that would bring about the demise of a Republic: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” –Sound familiar? What have we been doing since at least as far back as the New Deal with Roosevelt? We have been voting money for people! That is NOT what government is for!
In other words, we the people have brought upon ourselves what we have today.
*We have done it by not looking at the character of the leaders for whom we vote.
*We have done it by not making sure all policies put in place line up with The Constitution.
*We have done it by voting ourselves money and creating so many government programs that we cannot keep up with them.
*Most importantly, we have done it by throwing God out the window. Our Constitution guarantees non-interference in religion by government…not freedom from religion! When Thomas Jefferson wrote to a Baptist group about separation of church and state, he was assuring them that the Federal government would NOT , or set up, a religion and force people to belong to it.
The Founders who wrote The Constitution (and not just Benjamin Franklin) knew that it would only work with a “moral and religious” people. In many ways, we have become neither. We have ignored our Creator and gone our own way. We have tried to push Him out of all our affairs. We have become selfish, wanting what we want and really not caring how what we want affects others. We place more value on unborn animals than unborn children and we protect criminals more than we do victims. We have removed the consequences of our behaviors and allowed illegitimate and frivolous lawsuits to reward stupidity. We have taken the freedom to speak against injustice and government corruption and changed it into the right to produce and use pornography and to perpetuate the sex slave trade. Domestic violence and physical abuse and molestation of children are rampant. I am not going to say it never existed, but tell me that it has not increased?
I could go on, but I think you see my point. We are in a crisis situation, people, but many ignore it so long as they have a job and a home and can have their fun and entertainment. But payday is coming, folks. It is standing at the door. Are you ready for it? Are you ready for the coming judgment on this nation?
God has promised blessings if we follow His way and bad things if we don’t. Those bad things are the result of His lifting the protection He gives people who do things His way. He does not have to cause anything to happen. He only has to stop protecting us from it! Consider this astute observation, again by John Adams: “That the desires of the majority of the people are often for injustice and inhumanity against the minority, is demonstrated by every page of the history of the whole world.” We need God to hold our human desires in check. Without God, he is correct. Look around you. What do YOU see?
It is true that not everyone in our nation has ever believed or lived the same things, but a majority of them DID acknowledge the existence of a Creator and the need to live according to His ways. Our nation has been through a lot, but it is not that difficult to see His hand of protection being lifted as we stray farther and farther from Him.
Please consider what I am writing here. I know you may not agree with all of it and that is OK. But at least take a look and give it some serious consideration. Study history. George Santayana (1863-1952) said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” He is correct.
Will YOU forget the past? Or will you study it and make sure we don’t repeat it? Do you even realize how much of the past has already been lost? You may not agree with Ray Comfort’s stance on abortion or on anything else he believes. However, I challenge you to watch the following video. Forget everything else and zone in on how many of these people have NO clue who Adolph Hitler is! If you get nothing else out of the video, get the fact that we are NOT remembering the past! Then look around you and see if there is not another Holocaust in the making.
