Who Are the Real Heroes?

A horrific event recently occurred in a theater in Colorado. A man came out in a midnight showing of a movie and released some gas canisters. He then calmly started firing at people. Some died. Some were injured. And some…well, some were heroes…real heroes.

We live in a world where so many people are enamored with the make-believe, including made-up comic characters such as Batman, Iron Man, Spiderman, X-Men and a host of others. We talk about them, write about them, dress up like them, glorify them. Yet not one has ever saved a single life out side of the world of make-believe. Not a one of them even really deserves the label “hero”, let alone “superhero”.

I find it ironic that the movie being shown was about one of those very “superheroes”:  Batman. But it sure wasn’t Batman, or any other fake “hero”, who acted in that dark theater that night.  That took real live human heroes (one as young as 13!) and thank G-d they did act! They stepped up to the plate. I wonder how long it will take for the public to forget all about these real heroes as they keep on glorifying the fakes.

I would like to honor these heroes and heroines here in this post. I may not get all of them, but this is, at least, a place to start. If anyone has other articles listing more of them, I hope they will put links in the comments.
