Shabbat Prayer – Statute

100_6751_edited_1Abba…You have given us Your Torah/teachings.
Within are things You ask of us.

Some things we understand, they make sense to us.
Some things, however, don’t seem to make sense.
We are to obey them simply because
You have asked us to do so.

Abba, may we always remember that
You are the Creator.
We are not.
You know what is right and good.
We do not.
You know the best ways for us to live.
We do not.
You know what will bring us fulfillment.
We do not.
You know Who will bring us joy.
We do not.

It is You, Adonai, who fulfill us.
It is walking in Your ways that will bring us joy.

Abba, I pray for all of us
that we may remember who You are
and who we are.

I pray that we will remember
that You are G-d
and we are not.

May we remember to seek You
with everything we have.

May we desire to know You
intimately and thoroughly.

May we obey Your teachings
for You have said that
obedience is better than sacrifice.

You want our hearts,
not just outward observance.
You want our love,
not unfeeling actions.
You want relationship with us,
not token interaction.

Help us, Abba, to see You as You really are
and may we be both
humbled and comforted
at the revelation.

May we see the Lion of Judah
and the loving Abba.

May we see the Creator of all
and the Messiah who would gather us
under the wings of His tallit.

May we see the Almighty One,
L-rd of Hosts,
and the Sacrifice for our sins.

Oh, that we would understand the extent
of Your love for us.

Oh, that we would understand Your mercy
and how often You have held Your hand back from
judgment we deserve.

May we love others
and show mercy to others
in the same way that You show it to us.
May we extend grace to others
as You do to us.
May we forgive others
as You forgive us.

Just as we do not understand
all Your ways,
may we also realize that we do not understand
all the ways of others.
May we love in spite of not understanding.

Help us, Abba, to love You with
all our hearts,
all our souls,
all our minds
and all our strengths.

May we love our neighbor as ourselves.

May we love one another.

Please bring Your Shalom
to Yerushalayim,
to Israel,
to Your people.

Please turn the hearts of all to You,
both Jew and non-Jew.

I praise You, Abba,
and thank You for meeting our needs,
even when we “feel” as if You have not.
Help us to accept Your will for us.
Help us to recognize that
nothing happens
that You do not either cause or allow.
Nothing surprises You.
You do not sleep.
You are not ignorant of our plight.
You watch over us
with tender, loving care.

May we love You
as You love us.

B’shem Yeshua
