One Less Cat

We love our Manx cats. They have wonderful personalities and are a joy to be around. They are very loving and very desirous of attention. In some ways, they are almost like puppy dogs. If we take walks, some of them will follow us down the road and back.

Our Mama is a beautiful black cat who has red coming out all over. She is absolutely beautiful. She had six kittens a little over a year ago. She is not very big and I never saw a cat SO fat from pregnancy! She could barely move toward the end. Here she is about 2 weeks before the birth.

We ended up with seven Manxes who ALL needed lots of loving. We simply could not do that, so we VERY carefully adopted out three of them. It was hard to do because of their very sweet personalities, but we had to. It wasn’t fair to them to keep them when we could not give them all the loving they needed. And, of course, it was difficult to afford the cost of cat food for seven cats. Thankfully, they also hunt!

Here we are saying “goodbye” to our kitties:

The other day, we met a woman and had a chance to talk with her at length. She had lost a cat recently and was looking to get another one for her three children. Years ago, she had owned a bobtail cat which we think was probably a Manx. She expressed interest in one of our remaining kittens. It was a hard choice, but since we were still four cats to three humans and one human works and does not really have time to spend doting on his cat, we gave up another one. She is going to a loving home with three children, a neutered tom and a tiny poodle that is probably smaller than she is.

We decided that Six would be the best choice for the children. She is adventuresome and fearless and loves to play. Here are the three kittens we kept laying altogether. You can see how they really have bonded together. Six is the gray stripe in the middle. Diego (Buddy) is on the left and Callie is on the right.

Here you have a much better view of Six’s coloring. They are all beautiful, each in their own way. Like people, they are all unique, yet similar. All cats, yet not the same. The Creator has made them (and us) wonderfully.

Six is now happily situated in her new home. Each day, she gets a bit bolder in this new more active environment. She gets lots of attention and is loving it. So, now we are down three kitties. We have Mama, Diego and Callie.
