I was roasting a chicken today. Usually, I put the meat thermometer in toward the end of the cooking just to check for doneness. But sometimes, I put it in right away. That is what I did today.
All of a sudden, we heard a loud noise like an explosion and the sound of something hitting the inside of the roaster lid. When I looked inside I saw that my meat thermometer had exploded! The glass just blew out with force and hit the underside of the lid. I hate to think of what might have happened had the lid been off. Yikes!
I would call the manufacturer, but I cannot see any indication of who made the thermometer. If anyone can tell me who it is, I will call them.
