Shabbat Shalom – When You Take

100_6754_edited_1

Abba…we read this week about the making of the covenant on the mountain.

We also read about how quickly the people turned to wanting a god they could see…
resulting in a golden calf.

How many times do we today do the same thing?

How many times do we make idols out of the things around
us instead of turning to You for everything?

Do we idolize:

human love?

jobs?

recognition?

accolades?

ministry?

worship?

bible study?

serving others?

our bank account?

our title?

None of these is bad, Abba, but the reasons we do them and/or seek them can be very bad.

Do we do them for what we can give?
Or for what we can get?

Do we do them out of love?
Or out of a desire for recognition?

Do we do them as unto Yeshua?
Or just because it is “the thing to do”?

Do we love You and others?
Or just ourselves?

Please reveal the true motives of our hearts!

Please show us where we are making idols in our own lives!

Please show us where we are turning to something or someone other than You to meet our soul needs!

Please show us when we are not relying upon You
to provide for us,
to deliver us from temptation,
to make a way of escape from falling into sin,
to help us love the seemingly unloveable,
to help us forgive the seemingly unforgivable,
to walk in Your ways,
in Your grace, mercy and truth,
and in Your justice.

Please bless all who are reading this and their loved ones.
Give them Your healing,
Your strength,
Your wholeness,
Your rest,
Your provision.
Fill them with Your Ruach
and a strong sense of Your love and presence.
