A Squirrel, Some Kittens & Gas???

Life is always interesting around here. You never know what is going to happen next.

Awhile back, I opened the laundry room door to the outside. This rather large squirrel in a tree opposite the door immediately began chattering at me. He was clearly not very happy with my presence. I wonder if it is because he thought we were moving in on his/her territory. Why? Because we have seen a rather large squirrel in our attic a couple of times. One side of the attic is screened in, but the other side remains to be done, so this squirrel can still get in.

The other afternoon we heard this crash in the attic. Apparently, the squirrel got in there and knocked something over. Mister/Miss Squirrel is going to be mighty disappointed when we finally get the rest of the screens up. (So will the wasps that like to go in there!)

We have a beautiful Manx cat with a really sweet personality. She came out of nowhere and was definitely NOT wild, although she was fending for herself, little huntress that she is. Well, she got pregnant (something that can no longer happen) and had 6 beautiful Manx kittens…all with wonderful personalities and various lengths of tails.

The kittens are adventurers…just like their mama. We have a home-made ladder attached to the house so the guys can do work on the roof. Today, Elias noticed one of the kittens climbing down the ladder. A minute later, another came off the roof and down the ladder. This is no short ladder. We are talking about 20′, I am thinking.

Yesterday, we watched them climbing in the trees on the other side of the house. Boy, they really went up there! These photos are taken through a screen, so they are not real clear. There were several kittens up in several trees, but they got down too quickly for me to get more photos. This is Blackie aka Buddy. He looks the most like his mama.

So…what about gas? YHVH did it again! We were out of the gas needed to charge our heat pump. Dave mentioned it Sunday morning to someone at the church gathering. Well, it just so happened (divinely so) that this gentleman had a full tank of the gas that he was left freely given and he just gave it to us. This not only blesses us, but also blesses the other gentleman who has been voluntarily helping us. He was going to have to turn down a job because he could not afford to fill his tank. One tank will take care of two to three charges.

YHVH is good always. Always YHVH is good.

  1. Hi folks, maybe you already know this but squirrels are notorious for chewing on electrical wiring. So the sooner you can keep them out of the attic the better.

We would love to hear your thoughts...
